With a clean-shaven face and a smile that left him looking twenty years younger, it was no surprise that parallels were made between him and Benjamin Button, the title character of his hit-2008 drama of the same name. And while, comments arose regarding what magic spell then-wife, Angelina Jolie, had put him under, experts were quick to point out that the real magic came from plastic surgery.
Though the Hollywood star has yet to confirm neither nor deny the allegations, experts were quick to notice signs of a facelift and botox, among some of the procedures Pitt may have undergone.
Experts looked at the cues across Pitt’s face.
“The smoothness of his skin indicates a possible short scar facelift, as evident from what appears to be a small scar at the edge of his cheeks.” Dr. Patrick Hsu speculates. “This could be then topped off with a small dose of botox that seem to enhance the skin, ensuring the lack of wrinkles in the area, as evident from his appearance at last January’s Golden Globes.”
The recent talk of Pitt’s alleged surgery is quite timely as experts have seen a steady increase in male plastic surgery patients over the last few years.
“I’m starting to see a lot of men coming into my office”, Dr. Hsu shares. “What we are starting to see is a change of attitude that it is perfectly natural for men to want to take care of their appearance.”
Aside from facelifts, botox, and chin augmentations, popular cosmetic procedures amongst men include neck lifts, eyelid rejuvenation, liposuction, tummy tucks, and gynecomastia surgery. But even in light of recent trends, experts are quick to point out that it isn’t just the surgery that’s keeping Brad Pitt young: it’s his lifestyle.
“Brad Pitt has done a fantastic job of keeping himself young over the years”, adds Dr. Hsu. “If he did undergo plastic surgery, it seems primarily for maintenance.”
This brings up a common fallacy amongst the general public that plastic surgery is a be-all-end-all cure to staying young.
“It’s something I tell many patients who come to my clinic”, say Dr. Hsu. “Without a proper self-care regiment, no amount of plastic surgery will really change anything. It’s imperative that people understand just how vital self-care is to the healing process.”
