“I get a lot of questions about ‘does this procedure cause a scar, form a scar?’ Unfortunately, the bottom line is any cut is gonna leave a scar, it’s up to us on how we position those scars and how we best camouflage and hide them. So, while there may be a scar, we try to render it virtually invisible. “

“Now, what can you do to help scarring? Well, thankfully a lot of that’s on me; that’s mostly about not having any tension on the incision of the skin itself. There are a couple of things that you can do on the front and back end.

1.No smoking in any capacity for at least 6 months prior to surgery. Nicotine impedes wound healing and will usually leave you with a wider scar. Keeping a high protein diet before surgery is essential.

2. If you’re gonna heal, you’ve gotta have the building blocks to heal, and the post-op phase of things [involves] keeping it protected from the sun, whether that’s sunscreen or keeping it covered with a hat or something like that. Things like that will help minimize the changing color that the scar goes through to better line up with your natural skin tone and render it virtually invisible.

So, the long story short… Unfortunately, any cut is gonna leave a little scar but there are things that both I and you can do to minimize and make it as imperceptible as possible.”
