It can last for a week, but this will gradually subside as you go through your recovery. Compared to other plastic surgery procedures, lip augmentation recovery is much short with minimal scarring. Patients who undergo the procedure can return to their jobs 24 hours after the surgery. Below are some tips you can follow for a smooth-sailing recovery period:
- Avoid wearing lipstick, lip balm, or other lip products for a week after the surgery.
- Place cold compress to your lips to control the pain and reduce the swelling.
- Reorganize your diet and put more soft foods like soup and mashed potato to lessen the need for chewing.
- Do not drink alcohol for 1 week after the surgery since it may affect the outcome of the procedure.
