Memorial Plastic Surgery (Clear Lake)

What Liposuction can do for you?

Last Updated: October 30, 2014 | Author: MPS Group

If you are like most women you want to look your best in a bathing suit this summer. You would like to enjoy the pool or the beach without feeling self-conscious. The season is approaching rapidly and unfortunately, for so many of us, shedding those last few pounds before summer can be very difficult. And there are certain places on our bodies that seem to hold on to the “extra” bulges despite how hard we work out or what type of diet we follow. There is a very common plastic surgery procedure called liposuction (lipoplasty) that can be used to address those problem areas. It isn’t considered to be a weight loss technique but rather a re-sculpting of the contours of the body and a great way to get ready for bathing suit season.

Deciding to have any type of cosmetic surgery is not a decision that should be made lightly. It is something that needs to be considered thoroughly, planned for and researched in depth. If you are considering a procedure such as liposuction then the first thing you need to do is find a board certified cosmetic surgeon in Houston that makes you feel comfortable and who has the appropriate credentials and experience. It is also important that the surgeon is communicative about the entire process and willing to answer all of your questions. Timing is also a factor. You will need to schedule the procedure and recovery around your family and work and in time for summer fun.

What is liposuction?

Lipoplasty, commonly referred to as liposuction, is a cosmetic procedure that gets rid of fatty tissue from underneath the exterior of the skin in “hard to lose” areas of the body, typically from the stomach, thighs, buttocks, chin, knees, hips, neck, cheeks, and jowls. When dietary restrictions or exercise fails to have an impact on these portions of the body, then lipoplasty is a safe and effective alternative. It is not designed for weight reduction but rather for body sculpting. The best candidates are individuals who are physically healthy, have elastic skin, and have pockets of protruding fat in certain areas. Modern procedures involve slight incisions, which by and large disappear gradually. Advances in technology have made the procedure safer and more efficient than ever.

Nothing replaces proper diet and exercise for looking fit and staying healthy. However, for those hard to lose deposits of fat that continue to plague you, a little assistance may be warranted. With help from a Houston plastic surgeon and liposuction, you can enjoy a more toned, smoother and younger appearance; you will look fabulous, feel great, and have the confidence to wear that tiny bikini. Think of how much fun it will be this summer to look good in your bathing suit and show off your new figure at the pool or at the beach.
