Prior to any procedure, patients meet with our surgeons for a consultation to learn about their goals. For face and neck liposuction, our doctors perform a complete facial assessment of the patient, which allows them to create an individualized treatment plan for the patient.
Liposuction of the face and neck is performed under general anesthesia in order to obtain superior results. The procedure begins with our surgeon making a small incision under the skin and another behind each earlobe.
A cannula will be inserted through these openings to melt the fat cells and suction them out. This technique is known as VASER liposuction, which uses ultrasound energy to melt the fat on the face. This softens the contours of the face and tightens the skin, making it easier to remove the fat with less pressure and bruising. However, for best results, the bandage may be worn for the first month, especially at night. Our team will give instructions for post-operative care at home, especially since visible bruising and swelling can be expected in the first few days after surgery. Applying an ice pack near the surgical area for a few minutes every hour will help to relieve any discomfort. Sleeping elevated or in a recliner chair will also help speed up healing.
