Early Life and Education

Dr. Truong is a native Texan who graduated from Rice University with honors and a double major in Biochemistry and Biology. He earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and then went on to complete his general surgery residency at the University of Florida in Jacksonville. Upon finishing his general surgery training, he was selected to pursue his plastic surgery residency at the highly competitive Mayo Clinic Arizona. During this time, he was exposed to the most current and daring aspects of plastic surgery in the greater Scottsdale community. Here, he learned to take care of and restore the bodies of breast cancer survivors, who continue to inspire him. He then completed a fellowship in Craniofacial Surgery in Austin, where he received comprehensive training in a wide variety of techniques to augment his skill set.

Medical Career

After fellowship, Dr. Truong served on the faculty as an assistant professor at Baylor College of Medicine, where he trained residents and medical students, many of whom he regularly keeps in touch with. He cared for complex reconstructive issues and further honed his expertise at the world-renowned Texas Medical Center. He then left academic medicine to devote more time to his community and worked in private practice before joining Memorial Plastic Surgery’s elite team.
