Short Scar Facelift Houston
Natural Results, Hidden Incisions
A short scar facelift, otherwise known as a mini facelift, is popular among patients looking to correct the signs of aging in the cheeks and jowls without fear of a “pinched” look. Older patient like this procedure because it greatly reduces sagging and wrinkles in the midface, allowing for a more youthful look. Younger patients choose this procedure to help them maintain their youthful appearance longer. The incisions are minimal and placed where they are nearly invisible.

Short Scar Facelift vs. Traditional Facelift
Your personal needs and preferences will determine which procedure is right for you. A traditional facelift is more complicated, takes longer to complete, and can have a longer recovery period. For further information, read our page on facelifts. A short scar facelift, on the other hand, is a much short operation, with less tissue disturbance than a full facelift. The incision for the short scar facelift is in front of the ear around the structure called the targus—that little tag in front of the ear – and up around the sideburn. Unlike a full facelift, in which the facial skin is fully detached and repositioned to achieve results, a short scar facelift repositions the muscles and tissues under the skin. Because the skin and muscle are not separated, there is less bruising and healing time is much shorter.
Before Your Procedure
Dr. Hsu will study the underlying facial structure and muscle configuration first in order to determine the best procedure for your needs. Sometimes multiple procedures may be recommended, including liposuction and dermal fillers to correct problems the facelift will not address. Your customized short scar facelift procedure will be based on your facial structure, skin type, and desired results.
The Short Scar Facelift Procedure
Local anesthesia is used in this procedure. Dr. Hsu repositions the layers of skin and muscle, and or tightens it, eliminating sagging skin and giving you a youthful lift and naturally-looking contour to your face. The operation lasts from 1-2 hours.
After Your Short Scar Facelift Procedure
Patients are able to return home the same day due to this procedure’s relative simplicity and the need for only local anesthesia. There may be some swelling or bruising, which Dr. Hsu will instruct you how to combat effectively. Any pain or discomfort is easily controlled with medications, and full recovery is expected anywhere from one to three weeks.
The results of a Short Scar Facelift are a very naturally contoured face, giving patients a more youthful appearance. When incision scars heal, they will be hidden and virtually invisible.
